Andi Halfpapp is curator, writer, events manager, and educator with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Visual Arts, a Graduate Diploma in Education (Senior), and a Masters of Fine Arts (Research), which explores notions of discursive space and experiential methodologies in curatorial paradigms and exhibition design.
Her curatorial practice explores organisational models that create immersive, discursive, democratic, and engaging experiences that endeavor to embrace the viewer as an integral part of the overall exhibition. In this way she aims to create overlapping relationships between works and audience, a 'pars pro toto' (in part or representing a whole) exhibition. Through the elimination of didactic panels as a primary entry points to works, and extensive para-curatorial materials she aims to extend the exhibition beyond spacial parameters, connecting to seemingly divergent contexts in order to develop new understandings.
Her artistic practice incorporates everyday materials to create intimate and purposeful atmosphere. She works in a variety of media, from film and performance to installation. Through ambiguity and the use of familiar material, she is able to connect with a universal audience and communicate themes that transcend basic visual interpretation.
Andi Halfpapp has also formed part of Collaborative Duo’s ‘Now is the time because there is no time’ with Tess Maunder, and ‘Andi & Sun’ with Jake Sun
